Loki (2021) is an American television series created by Michael Waldron for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is the third television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. The series takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. The series stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, who is taken to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. Loki is forced to work with the TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) to catch a dangerous variant version of himself. Along the way, Loki learns more about the TVA and its true purpose. He also begins to question his own identity and his place in the universe. The series also stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, the judge of the TVA, and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, the variant version of Loki. Loki was praised for its complex characters, its exploration of themes such as free will and destiny, and its unique visual style. It was also a critical and commercial success, becoming one of the most popular Disney+ original series.
